Healing Takes More than Medicine
During treatment, Warriors face overwhelming challenges physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Insurance may cover procedures, but it doesn’t offer the comfort of a recliner for recovery, a hot meal when you're too tired to cook, or a handwritten card that reminds you you're not alone.

That’s why The Umbrella Project exists: to meet you where you are, with personalized care that brings comfort in a season that’s anything but.

What Comfort Can Look Like
This is more than support, it’s a moment of relief during one of the hardest storms. Here’s how comfort can show up, right when it’s needed most.
When Ann was recovering from treatment, your support lifted a real burden.

Because of your generosity, her children were able to share a warm meal with her, pizza delivered to their doorstep, during one of the hardest weeks of their lives.
“It wasn’t just dinner. It was care I didn’t have to ask for.”
~ Ann, Warrior

A woman comes home from surgery, sore and unsure how she’ll get comfortable.

Then, a rental medical recliner shows up at her door, paid for by people who believe she deserves rest.
“I didn’t even know how much I needed that chair until I sat in it.”
~ Future Warrior
Step 1: Reach Out
Fill out a short, compassionate intake form, just enough to begin. It’s safe to take this step. We’re here to help, not to overwhelm.
Step 2: We Listen
A member of our team connects with you personally to learn what would bring you the most comfort right now emotionally, spiritually, and practically.
Step 3: You’re Covered
You’ll receive what insurance doesn’t, whether that’s a medical recliner, a care package, or a warm meal.

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
You’ve been strong for everyone else. It’s okay to ask for help, especially when you’re used to holding everything together. You may be a mom, a caregiver, a professional, or a Warrior who’s always the strong one.
But here’s the truth: accepting support is not weakness. It’s wisdom. It’s love. It’s caring for yourself and your family.
At The Umbrella Project, you can say yes to care. We’re here to walk with you, without judgment, pressure, or expectation, just care.

Born From a Storm & a Circle of Friends
When our founder, Wanda Kay, was diagnosed with breast cancer, it wasn’t just the treatment that got her through. It was the people. Her closest friends rallied around her with meals, a recliner to rest in, spiritual encouragement, and unconditional love. They gave her space to heal when everything else felt out of control.
That circle of care became the foundation for The Umbrella Project, a way to pass forward the same comfort, dignity, and human kindness to other women in treatment.
What started as one woman’s storm has grown into a movement of support, covering Warriors in their most vulnerable moments, one act of care at a time.

And just like Wanda once did, you can let someone hold the umbrella for a while. You don’t have to carry it all.
The Umbrella Project is a beacon of hope, providing support and love to women in their storm of breast cancer. We are here to uplift and empower, just like an umbrella shielding from the rain.

Want to Help Carry the Umbrella?
There are many ways to get involved. Whether you write a care card, refer a woman in treatment, or volunteer your time and skills, you become part of a circle that helps our Warriors feel covered, seen, and supported.
No gesture is too small. Every act of kindness helps lighten someone’s load.

The Umbrella Project is a breast cancer foundation focused on helping women live beyond the diagnosis. Your donation provides financial support so The Umbrella Project Breast Cancer Foundation can provide emotional support, comfort items, ride assistance, and hot meals for Warriors in active treatment, things insurance often leaves behind.
Whether you give as an individual or partner with us as a business or community sponsor, your support helps fund essentials like medical recliners, hot meals, care packages, and post-surgical garments.
You can sponsor a service, give monthly, or one-time, to make sure no woman faces breast cancer alone.
